Settlement Activity on Manhattan Island

The Core Belief

Passover began last night with the 13,296,100 Jews worldwide celebrating the first (of two) Seder; a ritual dinner retelling the story of the Exodus from Egypt – as dramatized by Cecil B. DeMille in his classic The Ten Commandments. (The first Seder is also called the Last Supper for all of you who may have missed the memo.)

The end of every Seder ends with the phrase ‘Next Year in Jerusalem.’ This is the same statement that has ended every Seder since the Romans threw the Jews out of their homeland in 70 AD and renamed it ‘Palestine’ – Latin for Land of the Philistines.

During the intervening 1990 years, various other ethnic and religious groups have attempted to rest control of the city known as ‘G-d’s hometown.’ However, no one has been able to destroy the essentially Jewish flavor of the city. I mean Jesus (a nice Jewish boy, by the way), the town’s been Jewish since at least 1,000 BC at quite possibly since 2,600 BC.

Thus the Obama Administrations gaffe of touting the Israeli building in the city as ‘settlement activity’ is baffling to anyone with any historical knowledge. There is only one town in the world as if not more Jewish than Jerusalem: New York, New York.

This prompted another odd gaffe from a Charlie Rose interview with George Mitchell, the American Interlocutor between the Palestinian Arabs and the Israeli’s:

GEORGE MITCHELL: … So what we got was a moratorium, ten months, far less than what was requested, but more significant than any action taken by any previous government of Israel for the 40 years that settlement enterprise has existed. …

CHARLIE ROSE: And you and Secretary Clinton praised Prime Minister Netanyahu for agreeing to that.

MITCHELL: Yes.

ROSE: It does not include East Jerusalem. There’ve been announcement in the last 48 hours of new settlement construction in East Jerusalem where the Palestinians want to make their capital.

MITCHELL: Yes.

ROSE: And it’s in the midst of Palestinians.

MITCHELL: … But for the Israelis, what they’re building in is in part of Israel.

Now, the others don’t see it that way. So you have these widely divergent perspectives on the subject. Our view is let’s get into negotiations. Let’s deal with the issues and come up with the solution to all of them including Jerusalem which will be exceedingly difficult but, in my judgment, possible.

The Israelis are not going to stop settlements in, or construction in East Jerusalem. They don’t regard that as a settlement because they think it’s part of Israel. …

ROSE: So you’re going to let them go ahead even though no one recognizes the annexation?

MITCHELL: You say “Let them go ahead.” It’s what they regard as their country. They don’t say they’re letting us go ahead when we build in Manhattan.

I always thought the Dutch purchased Manhattan Island from the Manhattan Indian Tribe for$12 worth of beads. However, it appears the Obama Administration views our construction projects in New York County as settlement activity.

I’m confused. Is this some communist ploy to re-write history or have Mitchell, Obama and Clinton decided to open negotiations to cede Manhattan to the Israeli’s?

Clinton and Obama are form Chicago. Mitchell is from Maine and a Red Sox fan. It appears Red Sox Nation and the Chicago Machine have teamed up to rend New York City from the US. Israel just wants Jerusalem and thus will do their part to stop this insidious plot. These evildoers must find another taker: China? Russia?

I council vigilance my fellow New Yorkers.  What do these idiots take us for, a bunch if freakin’ morons?

Forearmed!
