A Gift To New York Sports Writers

Just when you thought the recession was going to destroy the world as we know it, the baseball Hot Stove heats, the Yankees and Mets spend massive cash on various free agents in an attempt to win it all.

 

CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett and K-Rod are the main players bought and paid for by two teams that believe the higher the payroll, the better the chance at winner it all.

 

 While this was going on, the Mets managed to slip a trade through that most fans and layman didn’t notice.  They traded with two other teams to acquire Seattle relief pitcher JJ Putz.

 

Was an athlete ever sp perfectly named for the city in which he would toil?
