An Organ InterventionFebruary 02nd BY Alex Zola

The Second Essential Scary Truth

I’d like to thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes and for seeing so many of you at Taylor’s Steakhouse and the R Bar.  I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful friends in this world.

And you all did your job wonderfully.  When the party moved to the R Bar, I don’t think there was a minute I was without a glass of whisky in my right hand.  You did your job so well my internal organs staged an intervention on Friday morning.

At 8am, I awoke to find my liver, kidneys and pancreas sitting on my diaphragm demanding to discuss the past 48.  They not so gently reminded me that I had just turned 44 and acting like I was 18 or 23 or 34 or even 38 just wasn’t going to cut it anymore.  That sort of bad drunken behavior was only for a few times a year at this point not for consecutive days.  After they said their peace, into my trunk they disappeared.

I blame the booze, then I blame society.
